This event is free and open to all high school teens, regardless of school, town, denonimation or faith, and is multi-town event presented to you by St. Catherine of Siena Youth Ministry and the Jordan Porco Foundation, Hartford, CT. Fresh Check Day/Realities of Life “Carnival” will be held on Sunday, October 6, from 1 – 4 p.m., on the grounds of St. Catherine of Siena, 265 Stratton Brook Road, West Simsbury, CT 06092. Fresh Check Day is a free, nondenominational event open to all high school students. Fresh Check Day is a program established by the Jordan Porco Foundation, and was created to encourage an approachable atmosphere, to engage teens in dialogue about mental health and to help build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available to them in school, their community and nationwide. Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health event that includes interactive games and expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support and giveaways from local community resources, live music, free food and entertainment, and exciting prizes, and much more.
World Day for Migrants and Refugees is September 29. The USCCB’s Justice for Immigrants program has prepared a very helpful educational piece on Church teaching and migration, called “Welcoming Christ in the Migrant” whose purpose is to give Catholics an opportunity to reflect on the issue of migration through Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching Tradition.
